Call to order, roll call, and confirmation of quorum Chair Andrea Lewis called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. Public Space Manager Stephanie Trueblood called the roll and confirmed the presence of a quorum with seven members present. 2. Agenda changes and approval The agenda stood as presented. Motion: Member Liz Waters moved to approve the agenda. Member Bryan Stuart seconded. Vote: Unanimous 3. Minutes review and approval Minutes from regular meeting on Feb. 19, 2020. Motion: Vice Chair Frances Harris moved approval of the minutes as presented. Member Tim Logue seconded. Vote: Unanimous Changes: None 4. Discussion of FY21 planting recommendations Trueblood reviewed locations that need a tree or trees. Priority places: 1. Police Annex — maples, elm, tupelo/black gum 2. Hillsborough Heights Park — pollinator garden and shade plants 3. Eno Street 4. Town Hall — replace ash tree 5. North Hassel Street —near Rec. Center 6. Northeast corner of Churton and Union streets Tree Board Minutes | 2 of 2 Board members recommended trees including a Valley Forge Elm, black gum, and forest pansy redbud. Members will conduct site visits in preparation for discussing which species would grow best in each location at the November meeting. 5. Updates A. Hillsborough Garden Club There was no update. B. Bee City Subcommittee Lewis said the Hillsborough Garden Club would be meeting virtually to ensure the Bee City status was renewed. C. Staff and board updates Harris noted that the Master Gardeners are creating natural landscaping videos. Trueblood said almost 50 people volunteered to convert a section of lawn to natural landscapes in Hillsborough this summer. Trueblood shared that Phyllis Simon resigned from the board and Greg Yavelak has been appointed to the board. The board discussed creating short outreach videos about removing invasive vines on trees, converting lawn to managed natural landscapes (Member Casey Collins and Stuart), and keeping leaves in your yard (Collins and Harris). 6. Adjournment Lewis adjourned the meeting at 9:46 a.m.
