Tiffin Planning and Zoning July 2, 2003
A regular meeting of the Tiffin Planning and Zoning was not brought to order by Chair
Steve Berner. Members present: Steve Berner and Melvin Reeve. No quorum. Also
present: Mayor Glen R. Potter, Council Karin Dils and Council Jim Bartels.
Dils presented a proposed zoning ordinance to members for consideration and study to be
placed on next agenda.
Dils presented mapping that shows possible placement of drainage ponds for the City of
Tiffin for future development requirements. Placed under study for the next commission
meeting. Drainage region considered by members.
Clerk Reihman presented information on sharing development costs as learned from City
of North Liberty for commission consideration.
The school has contacted the city regarding fire hydrant requirements in the area of the
new school building under construction. A copy of the Design Standards for the City of
Tiffin have been sent to the architects of the project.
Mayor Potter has signed a letter to the Clear Creek Amana School requesting that
sprinkling system be installed in the new building as this is current policy in such
communities as North Liberty and Iowa City. Superintendent Okerberg estimates cost of
a water sprinkling system at near $6,000 to $8,000 and the full cost of the entire building
somewhere near $600,000.00.
