Town Announces Second Downtown Improvement Project
Stakeholder Meeting
Leesburg, VA (April 22, 2010) – The Town of Leesburg and its consultant, AECOM, have
announced the second stakeholder meeting for the Town’s evolving Downtown Improvement
Project. This event will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010, from 7:00 pm until 9:30 pm, at the Holiday
Inn at Carradoc Hall in Leesburg. The event will be in the form of an input session that invites
interested businesses owners, property owners and residents to once again come and be part of
the downtown improvement project.
The first stakeholder event was held March 17, 2010, and the Town’s consultant received a host of
information from a variety of sources. This meeting will differ from the first, as the consultant will
be presenting illustrations of specific design elements of the overall “design and implementation
strategy.” These illustrations will be representative of the public input received from the first series
of meetings.
“This is where the project gets exciting,” said Ryan Bouma, Project Manager for AECOM. “Now
people will see specific designs developed based upon their input.”
The design and implementation strategy that will emerge from this effort will be the roadmap of
various physical improvements associated the Downtown Improvement Project. Staff anticipates
Town Council review of the overall design and implementation strategy, as well as specific projects
associated with it, in the summer 2010. It is anticipated that construction could begin in summer
2011.
The Holiday Inn at Carradoc Hall is located at 1500 East Market Street, Leesburg, VA 20176.
