MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 19, 2011
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on April 19, 2011 at 6:04
p.m. at the Medina City Hall, 2052 County Road 24, Medina, MN.
I. Call to Order
Members present: Pederson, Weir, Crosby, Siitari, Martinson (arrived at 6:10 p.m.)
Members absent:
Also present: City Administrator Chad M. Adams, City Attorney Ron Batty,
Public Works Superintendent Steve Scherer, and City Planner Dusty Finke.
II. City Facilities Update and Project Schedule
Adams provided an overview of the packet memo, which outlined discussion points for
the evening, including a draft project schedule for the public works facility project.
Discussion was held on the public education component of the project schedule. The
Council agreed to provide a handout at City Clean -Up Day, to conduct another Focus
Group meeting, and to plan for three or four neighborhood education meetings. The
Council also agreed to advance the "Citizen's Advisory Group" earlier in the process.
Adams inquired about the timeline for the City Hall/Police project. Following
discussion, the Council agreed to include some renovations/improvements to the existing
facilities for the next five years as a new City Hall/Police were unlikely to be completed
in that timeframe.
Adams requested a motion to approve the project schedule, which would formally
advance the project and direct staff to begin implementing the tasks identified in the
project schedule. Weir moved, Pederson seconded, to approve the project schedule with
modifications to reflect the additional Focus Group meeting and advancing the Citizen's
Advisory Group. Motion passed unanimously.
III. Adjournment
Weir moved, Martinson seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
