AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF AUGUST 2, 1995
Members Gordon Colburn, Michael Anderson, and Thomas Tucker answered the roll call.
Staff was represented by Gary Shimun and Kevin Bissell.
Pat Dorris, Nick Long, and Duke Norfleet were also present.
Pat Dorris presented a request for additional property at the airport to do a fuel farm upgrade. No
action was taken by the Committee.
Bissell reviewed the status of the Airport Improvement Project.
Shimun reviewed the status of the Airport Master Plan.
The Committee reviewed the information submitted by Fly -Tye, Inc. regarding new tie downs for the
airport. By consensus, the Committee concluded that the individual cost of the tie downs was too
high.
The Committee further discussed the position of Airport Manager. Shimun outlined his conversation
with Dale Points, McCall Fire Chief, who is willing to take on the additional duty. The Committee
would like to discuss the matter further at a future meeting.
Shimun outlined a provision in the Mission Statement for the Committee that indicated that there
were no officers for the Committee, but the Airport Manager would convene meetings and act as
Chairman. Shimun recommended that provision be revised to create the position of Chairman from
the group, with the Airport Manager retaining responsibility through a Staff function.
Tucker moved to allow Staff to revise the Mission Statement as described. Anderson supported and
the motion passed unanimously.
A letter from Ricardo Piva of the USFS regarding knapweed at the airports was discussed. Staff was
directed to inspect the airport for the presence of the weed.
The method for moving the rotating beacon was discussed.
There being no further business before the Committee, Anderson moved and Colburn supported to
adjourn. Th rreting concluded at 2:00 p.m.
