Döner Bistro Receives 2010 Tolbert Environmental
Achievement Award
Leesburg, VA (May 3, 2010) – The Town of Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC)
is pleased to announce that Döner Bistro is this year’s recipient of the John W. Tolbert, Jr.
Environmental Achievement Award. This award program recognizes students, community
groups, individuals and businesses that conduct or participate in activities that benefit the
Town’s environment. Town Council will recognize Döner Bistro at Council Meeting on May 11,
2010.
“The EAC is proud to recognize Döner Bistro’s efforts to protect the environment through the
operation of their restaurant business in an environmentally sustainable manner. Döner Bistro
sets an example for all restaurants through recycling, use of products that can either be reused
or composted, energy and water conservation, and conversion of waste cooking oil into
biodiesel fuel,” EAC Chair Neely Law said. “It’s no wonder that Döner Bistro was the first
restaurant in Leesburg to receive certification under the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the
Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s Virginia Green program.”
The EAC and the Leesburg Town Council will host a brief ceremony to present the award to
Timo Winkel and Nicole Marschall, the owners of Döner Bistro, on Tuesday, May 11 at 7:30
p.m. The ceremony will take place at the beginning of the Council’s regular meeting in the
Council Chambers at Town Hall, 25 W. Market Street.
