RESOLUTION NO. 62 -239
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DECLARING SUPPORT
FOR THE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION
CHARTER AMENDMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS;
WHEREAS, the City of Temple City considers recreation as
essential to the cultural heritage of our democratic community; and
WHEREAS, participation in a wholesome recreation experience
is a principal contributor to our citizens' welfare; and
WHEREAS, overwhelming urbanization in this county has con -
sumed open space at the rate of 100 acres per day and is producing
a critical land shortage; and
WHEREAS, such land, its acquisition, development, and con -
servation.for recreation is the only possibility for overcoming the
present critical shortage without undue strain upon the citizens; and
WHEREAS, the present system of finance in the county gov-
ernment does not allow for the maximum acquisition, development and
conservation of present recreation area potential; and
WHEREAS the proposed Parks and Recreation Charter Amendment
will provide a method through which an orderly and progressive pro-
gram may develop;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that;
THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY declares intention to endorse and
support the County Parks and Recreation Charter Amendment at the
general election on November 6, 1962; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT;
It hereby urges the voters of Los Angeles County to support
this amendment with a favorable vote; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT;
It hereby directs that, upon the adoption of this Resolution,
it be submitted to the Parks & Recreation Charter Amendment Committee
to be used for the advancement of the objectives stated above.
