Town of Leesburg Plans Memorial Day Observance
Leesburg, VA (May 11, 2010) ‐ The Mayor, Town Council, and Host Committee are honored to
announce plans for the Town’s Memorial Day Observance and laying of Memorial Wreaths,
planned for Monday, May 31, 2010. This year’s featured speaker will be Major Joe Grable of
the United States Army Reserve. Special guests will include members of Leesburg VFW Post
#1177, American Legion Post #181 and the Loudoun Border Guard Fife & Drum Corps.
The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Loudoun County Courthouse in Historic
Downtown Leesburg (18 East Market Street). In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony
will be held at the Leesburg Town Hall (25 West Market Street). The Historic District will have
road closures in effect from 9:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m., including Market Street from Church
Street to Wirt Street and King Street from Loudoun Street to North Street. Event guests are
encouraged to park at the Leesburg Town Hall Parking Garage, accessible from Loudoun Street.
Additional on‐street parking will be available for ceremony attendees with special needs.
