AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2003, the Mayor and Council adopted Resolution
No. 03-283 designating a section of Roosevelt Avenue as a weight restricted
street pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-197.3 for a three (3) month period.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret find that it is in
the interest of public safety to re-designate said section of Roosevelt Avenue as a
weight restricted street for an additional three (3) month period, while plans for a
permanent designation are being reviewed for approval by the appropriate
autho ities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That a section of Roosevelt Avenue shall be designated as a weight
restricted street pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-197.3 for a three (3) month period from
date of adoption hereof as follows:
VEHICLE WEIGHT LIMITS:
Trucks over four (4) tons gross weight are hereby excluded from that
portion of Roosevelt Avenue, except for the pick up and delivery of
materials on said street, as indicated below.

PENALTIES:
Unless anther penalty is expressly provided by New Jersey Statute, every
person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance or any
supplement thereto shall be liable to the penalty of not more than fifty
($50.00) dollars or imprisonment for a term not to exceed fifteen (15) days
or both.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Borough Clerk forward a
certified copy of this Resolution to the New Jersey Department of
Transportation, to the Carteret Police Department and-the Carteret
Municipal Court.
