Minutes of the March 3, 1997 were read and approved without any
changes or additions.
STAFF REPORTS:
Chief Points informed the Committee that he has the construction
drawings for the new fence to be put in at the Airport. The
posts and stays will be wood with a double row of single strand
barbless wire on the top. Kevin will cover more on this subject
and the displaced threshold in his design review.
Chief Points informed the Committee that we are getting the
sweeping done. He has also talked to the golf course
superintendent and he is supposed to be spraying for weeds around
all of the tie downs and all of the cracks. Last year he forgot,
so this year Dale will make sure he doesn't forget again.
OLD BUSINESS:
Chief Points informed the Committee that the Ady property is a
done deal. We have signed earnest money and it is scheduled to
close on the 19th. We did get the property up behind the house
that we needed. This afternoon Dale and Chuck are meeting with
Burton to get a grading easement from another property owner that
we need to complete the project. A question was brought up about
the Fire Department buying part of the property. Since the FAA
ended up including all of the property which we didn't think they
would, for the Fire Department (or anyone else) to be able to
use some of the land, they would have to lease it from the City.
Chief Points informed the Committee that the ground work for the
ASOS will start next week and actual installation of the
components will be in June. About 90 days after that it should
be certified. Tucker asked who is going to take down the AWOS.
Dale stated that we are going to take it down with the
cooperation of the State. That is the agreement we have with
Wayne Pickerel
A question was brought up to Dale about the status of the joint
meeting with the City Council and the County Commissioners. This
meeting is still up in the air, cannot seem to find a good time
for everyone. We may have to do them separately.
Chief Points and the Committee discussed the fact that Rickerson
is suppose to present the final Master Plan to the City Council
on the 22nd. Tucker suggested that it would be nice if we could
get a copy of the document a week ahead of time, so we could read
it. Dale had already left him a message on his answering machine
about that.
Chief Points informed the Committee that we do have a portable
tower here at the airport. We had talked the FAA into loaning us
one after the crisis until our's is refurbished. Dale looked at
the trailer yesterday. It is being painted and will be ready to
pick up by the end of the week. The FAA has most of the radio's
in the new portable tower for us. Hopefully, by mid month we
will have ours up here. We have figured out how to get water and
power to it and we are going to pour a slab to set it on, so it
will be a semi-permanent place.
At this point the meeting was turned over to Chuck and Kevin from
Toothman-Orton to give the Committee a design review, plans and
specs, of AIP6. After much discussion on priorities and costs of
the taxi way, airport work, Deinhard, etc., it was decided to
have another meeting in about two weeks after Chuck talks to
Trujillo and puts together different scenarios. The meeting was
set for the 22nd at 1:00 in the afternoon in the basement of City
Hall. It was set for this date because the City Council meeting
is that night. A question was brought up about under the best
and worst circumstances, what would be the completion date of the
new hanger taxi way. Chuck thought that probably mid August for
completion with a start date of sometime in July.
NEW BUSINESS:
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
1:55.
