Leesburg’s A.V. Symington Aquatics Center
Now Using Twitter to Keep Customers Informed
Leesburg, VA (May 17, 2010) – The Town of Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department has
established a Twitter account that staff will use this summer to provide timely updates to
customers of the outdoor pool. Followers of the account will receive information about wait
times, unexpected closures, and special events at the A.V. Symington Aquatics Center.
“We understand how frustrating it can be for customers to arrive at the outdoor pool only to
learn once they get here that we are at capacity,” explained Kate Trask, Assistant Director for
Parks. “By using the Twitter account, we will be able to keep people up‐to‐date throughout the
day about conditions at the pool, including special deals at the concession stand. It’s a great use
of a Social Media application and it’s free to our customers.”
Customers must have their own Twitter accounts in order to receive the Twitter updates from
the A.V. Symington Aquatics Center. Leesburg’s outdoor pool Twitter account is located at
www.twitter.com/AVSwimsIdaLee. For more information about the A.V. Symington Aquatics
Center, please visit www.leesburgva.gov/avswims. The Parks and Recreation Department also
maintains a Facebook page to keep customers of all of the Town’s parks and recreational
facilities up to date and informed. Customers can become fans of the Ida Lee Recreation
