HomeMy Public PortalAbout04/23/91 Special CCM57 City council portitm of joint meeting with Planning Commission - April 23, 1991 Absent: Wilfred Scherer Mayor Gary Acromite called the council meeting to order at 10:30 p.m. after the planning commission, closed the public hearing regarding the comprehensive plan amendments. Gary Acromite asked what the Metropolitan Council has asked for in terms of extension for their response to the cities amendments to the comp plan. Glenn Cook stated that they would have some response to the city May 1 and Medina should get back to them within three weeks or by the end of May and that they would like a letter from the city as to what we wish to do. Robert Mitchell stated that the city needed all the time it could get to prepare amendments. Gary Acromite stated that the city needed to respond to their issues and interject information from this meeting. Moved by Robert. Mitchell and seconded by Ann Thies to direct staff to prepare a letter to the Metropolitan Council giving them sufficient time to prepare a response so that action could be taken by them on June 27. Motion carried. Robert Mitchell suggested that a committee of council and planning commission members meet to assemble changes for the May 7 council meeting. Moved by Robert Mitchell and seconded by Gary Acromite to appoint Gary Acromite, Phil Zietlow, Anne Heideman, Ron Rogers and John Ferris to meet and prepare amendments to the comprehensive plan amendment and distribute them to the council abd planning commission members for comment. Motion carried. LANDFILL LOBBYIST Robert Mitchell explained that Larry Redman has done some work on the landfill siting issue before the legislature and that he talks with hip: on a regular basis and has asked him to find out how garbage is to be handled if all counties do not need to site landfills. Donna Roehl explained that the county commissioners are considering a resolution affirming the Woodlake closing in 1996 if the city reaffirms its part of the contract to take ash from the burn plant..
