A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY RECOGNIZING SAINT
PATRICK'S DAY
WHEREAS, Saint Patrick's day is the feast day of St.
Patrick, Christian missionary and patron saint of Ireland,
and
WHEREAS, Saint Patrick's day, a national holiday in Ire-
land, has been honored in America since March 17, 1737 when a
group of Irish protestant gentlemen and merchants met in Boston
to honor St. Patrick, and
WHEREAS, the Shamrock, having three leaflets is worn to
commemorate Saint Patrick's day, to illustrate the doctrine of
Trinity.
NOW, THEREFORE, let there be a wearin of the green in
Temple City on March 17th in honor of the patron saint of Ire-
land, St. Patrick, and in honor of ye good people of Ireland
and Irishmen everywhere.
