HomeMy Public PortalAbout1980_04_09_O008 TOWN OF LEESBURG IN LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA PRESENTED April 9, 1980 ORDINANCE NO. 80-0-8 ADOPTED April 9, 1980 AN ORDINANCE: PROVIDING FOR THE GRANTING TO A PERSON OR CORPORATION, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS HEREAFTER TO BE SELECTED IN A MANNER PRESCRIBED BY LAW, THE FRANCHISE, RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE TO USE THE STREETS, ALLEYS, AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF THE TOWN OF LEESBURG FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A CABLE TELEVISION SERVICE AND SYSTEM. ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, as follows: SECTION I. TO The Annexed Ordinance, entitled "AN ORDINANCE: GRANTING · ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, THE FRANCHISE, RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE, UPON CERTAIN CONDITIONS, TO USE THE STREETS, AND ALLEYS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF THE TOWN OF LEESBURG, VIRGINIA, WITHIN ITS CORPORATE LIMITS, AS THE SAME NOW EXISTS OR MAY BE HEREAFTER EXTENDED OR ALTERED, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A CABLE TELEVISION SERVICE AND SYSTEM WITHIN SAID CORPORATE LIMITS" shall be advertised · weeks._ once a week for four successive/in ~ne Loudoun Times-Mirror, a news- paper published in the Town of Leesburg, Virginia and having a general circulation in the Town of Leesburg. The purpose of said advertisement is to provide, in the manner prescribed by law, for the granting of a franchise to use the streets, alleys and other public places of the town for the purpose of constructing and operating a cable television service and system subject to the terms, conditions, provisions and limitations embodied in the aforementioned annexed ordinance. -2- SECTION II. The public notice to be published with said ordinance shall be as follows: "The Town of Leesburg, Virginia hereby invites sealed bid proposals for the franchise, right and privilege, upon certain conditions, to use the streets, alleys and public places of the Town of Leesburg for t~purpose of providing a cable television service and system within the Town of Leesburg subject to the terms, provisions and requirements of the following proposed ordinance: (Here the ordinance shall be set out in full) Bids must be submitted in writing and delivered to the Mayor of the Town in open session of the Council to be held in the Council Chambers, 10 W. Loudoun Street, in Leesburg, on June 11, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. The Public Notice, Invitation for Proposals, Application Form, and Chapter 5.1 of the Town Code, incorporated within the franchise ordinance by reference, constitute the invitatiOn to bidders for the cable television service and system franchise and are avaliable in the Office of the Town Manager, P.O. Box 88, Leesburg, Virginia 22075, during regular office hours. The successful bidder shall reimburse the Town of Leesburg for the cost of advertisement. The right to reject any and all bids and to award the franchise in the best interest of the town is reserved.
