AN ORDINANCE: AMENDING THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Planning Commission, after advertising and con-
ducting a public hearing on January 7, 1982, as required by Section 15.1-431
of the Code of Virginia, as amended, transmitted to this Council certain
amendments of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance pertaining to the Board of
Architectural Review membership with recommendation for approval; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was advertised and held by this Council as
required by Section 15.1-431 of the Code on February 24, 1982, at which
time interested persons appeared and presented their views on the proposed
ordinance amendments:
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
SECTION I. Sections lOA-4-1 and 10A-4-2 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance
are amended to read as follows:
10A-4-1
For the purposes of making effective the provisions of this article
a "Board of Architectural Review" is hereby established. The Board
shall consist of seven members appointed by the Mayor, eme-e~-w~em
e~-½~e-e~ee?. ~ere qualified and acceptable candidates are
available, one member of the Board shall be a member of the
~erican Institute of Architects, and one a member of the ~erican
Society of Civil Engineers. One Board member will be appointed
from the To~ Council and one from the Planning Co~ission. One
member should be a person with knowledge of local real estate
conditions and eme two member~ should be appointed pri~rily on the
basis of knowledge and demonstrated interest in the historical
heritage of Leesburg. ~1 persons hereinafter n~ly appointed to the
Board shall be bona fide residents of the To~ of Leesburg.

10A-4-2 The term of office of the members shall be for three years, except
that the term of the ~ee~e~-e~-~mm~m~-~m~-~em~g? Council
member and Planning Commission member shall correspond to their
official tenure of office. Any appointed member of the Board may
be removed from office by the Council after public hearing for
inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance or other just cause
after charges made in writing. Appointments to fill vacancies
shall be only for the unexpired portion of the term. Members may
be reappointed to succeed themselves. The Director of Planning
and Zoning shall be the Board's Secretary.
Section II. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage
