“Leesburg is Open for Business” Showcases
Commercial Real Estate in Historic Downtown
on Friday, June 4, 2010
Discover the Opportunities to Open or Expand Your Business in Leesburg
Leesburg, VA (May 28, 2010) – In partnership with Loudoun County Economic Development and local
real estate brokers, the Town of Leesburg is hosting a unique “Open House” event on Friday, June 4,
2010, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Historic Downtown Leesburg. “Leesburg is Open for Business” will
showcase available commercial properties, both for lease and for sale, and will provide valuable
information about locating a business in the Historic Downtown, including incentives like no tap
fees for restaurants.
The program will begin at 3:00 p.m. in one of the Historic District’s premiere mid‐block locations, 25
South King Street. From 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Town staff and downtown business leaders will present
information about the public and private investments being made in the downtown, including capital
improvement projects such as new sidewalks and street lighting, the proposed downtown partnership
and new commercial development plans. From 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity
to visit a number of featured properties.
“The impetus for this event was the fact that we have some unprecedented opportunities for new
businesses to locate in Historic Downtown Leesburg right now,” explained Marantha Edwards,
Leesburg’s Economic Development Manager. “Properties like the Stockman Building, the Leesburg
Antique Emporium building and the Norris House Inn don’t come on the market every day. At this
open house, we want to make it easy for prospective tenants and owners to visualize their
businesses thriving in the Historic Downtown.”
From 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., the open house will conclude with a sneak peak at one of the newest
downtown businesses, Haute Papier at 21 Wirt Street SW. Currently located in their Georgetown
studio, owners Erin Miller and Sarah Meyer Walsh have chosen Historic Downtown Leesburg as the
location for their first retail venture centered on their custom and couture stationery products.

Following the open house, Leesburg’s monthly First Friday celebration begins at 6:00 p.m., with
over 45 businesses staying open until 9:00 p.m. and featuring special activities like wine
tastings, live music, gallery show openings and more.
