METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT’S (MSD) RATE COMMISSION

The Public Relations Committee met in Room 109 at 2350 Market Street, St. Louis, MO 63103
on the above date. Present at the meeting were:

Paul Brockmann, committee chair, called the meeting to order at 8 A.M.
The discussion started with clarification about the budget for 2019 and the need to appropriate
the budget based on priorities/needs for the 2019 Wastewater proposal.
The committee discussed ways to reach stakeholders/interveners earlier in the process. Ideas
included informational webcasts, online meeting to introduce the process, and outreach to a
variety of organizations in the community. It was also noted that the commission wants more
involvement with the municipalities. The committee wants to get a separate communication from
the Rate Commission to stakeholders, prior to receiving the Wastewater proposal from MSD.
The committee also said it may be helpful to include visuals (charts/graphs) to help stakeholders
and the general public better understand the process. Committee members agreed that an
introductory letter and list of interested stakeholders would be a first step in the outreach
process.
The committee agreed to meet again in January to further discuss opportunities to communicate
with stakeholders in February.
The meeting was adjourned by Mr. Brockmann at 8:50 A.M.
