Keep Leesburg Beautiful 2010 Town‐wide Clean Up and
Beautification Campaign Concludes
Leesburg, VA (June 1, 2010) – Keep
Leesburg Beautiful concluded on Friday,
April 30, 2010 with a volunteer appreciation
reception hosted by Wegmans in the Village
at Leesburg. Approximately 185 volunteers
attended the reception to celebrate their
collective efforts during the month‐long
community clean‐up and beautification
campaign. Corporate sponsors of Keep
Leesburg Beautiful, including Wegmans,
Costco and Keane Enterprises, were also
recognized at the reception.
“Keep Leesburg Beautiful was a wonderful event this year. The community involvement and
energy continues to increase every year,” commented Leesburg Council member Dave Butler.
“I'd like to thank all of the people who helped make Leesburg an ever better place!”
“Wegmans is excited to be in the Town of Leesburg and we want to be part of the community.
We try to make a difference in every community that we are in. We are so happy that we were
able to be a part of this year’s Keep Leesburg Beautiful effort,” said Phil Quattrini, General
Manager of Wegmans. “KLB is exactly the type of community involvement that Wegmans
wants. We look forward to next year.”
This year’s effort included more than 160 volunteers working at two dozen locations
throughout the Town, picking up trash, clearing brush and weeds, marking storm drains,
planting trees and working on other beautification projects. Teams from five Leesburg
businesses and thirteen community groups participated in the “Community Challenge”.

Volunteers collected over 220 bags of trash, tires, a bike, appliances, furniture and other
discarded items.
“The Community Challenge is really the biggest part of Keep Leesburg Beautiful,” said Charlie
Mumaw, Deputy Director of Public Works and this year’s Keep Leesburg Beautiful committee
chairman. “The Challenge provides citizens an opportunity to see the immediate results of their
efforts. We had great participation this year, and hope to see even more teams out there next
year.”
A list of participating groups and corporate sponsors is posted on the Town website, along with
photos of many of the events and clean‐up activities, at www.leesburgva.gov/klb.
