A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF A UTILITY EASEMENT TO
DOMINION ENERGY FOR AN UNDERGROUND DISTRIBUTION
EASEMENT ON THE OLDE IZAAK WALTON PARK TOWN-OWNED
PROPERTY
WHEREAS, The Virginia Electric and Power Company (doing business as Dominion
Energy) has an existing utility on the property for the operation and maintenance of an overhead
pole line on the Olde Izaak Walton Park property owned by the Town; and
WHEREAS, Dominion Energy has requested an Underground Distribution Easement
Agreement on the park property to relocate underground the overhead wires on the existing pole
line serving the activities building and street lights on the property; and
WHEREAS, the utility work is part of Dominion Energy's Strategic Underground
Program and will be at no cost to the Town; and
WHEREAS, Town staff recommends that the utility easement be granted to Dominion
Energy for the same; and
WHEREAS, the easement, if granted to Dominion Energy by the Town, will not be a
detriment to Town owned property, and will allow for the overhead electric service wires to the
activities building and street lights on the park property to be removed and placed underground.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Mayor is authorized to execute the Dominion Energy easement agreement once in a form
approved by the Town Attorney for an underground distribution easement on Town property
serving the Olde Izaak Walton Park.
