HomeMy Public PortalAbout1983_12_14_O039The Town of Leesburg in Virginia ORDINANCE NO. 83-0-39 PRESENTED December 14, 1983 ADOPTED December 14, 1983 AN ORDINANCE: AMENDING THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO ADD GOVERNMENT OFFICES AS CONDITIONALLY PERMITTED USES IN R-2 ZONING DISTRICTS WHEREAS, on October 26, 1983, this Council initiated the following amend- ment to the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, a joint public hearing between the Council and the Planning Commission was held on November 23, 1983, according to the requirements of Section 15.1-431 of the Code of Virginia, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission at a regular meeting held on December 2, 1983, recommended the following amendment to the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and this Council finds that the following amendment is required by the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice because: 1 - Government offices can be an appropriate use in the R-2 District if properly controlled as a conditionally permitted use; 2- Much of the land near the existing county offices is zoned iR-2 and the town has consistently expressed its support for the expansion of county facilities where appropriate. ~MEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. Section 3A-2 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance is amended to read as follows: 3A-2 CONDITIONALLY PERMITTED USES. The following are conditionally permitted uses in the R-2 Residential District: (a) Public and private school. (b) Public recreation facility. (c) Country club; golf course. (d) Public utility substation or transmission facility. (e) Church. (f) Cemetery. (g) Boarding or rooming house. (h) Family care home. (i) Group home. (j) Clubs, lodges and recreational buildings. (k) Government offices. ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT SECTION 3A-2. -m- SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage. PASSED this 14th day of ATTEST: Clerk of C~ncil December , 1983.
