AMENDING ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE TOWN CODE REGARDING
THE TOWN ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, Article III of Chapter 2 of the Town Code is silent witlh respect
to the: appointment and supervision of the Town Attorney:
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. Section 2-40 of the Town Code is amended to read as follows:
Section 2-40. Compensation Generally

by a salary with additional compensation for special services in complicated
or unusual legal matters based on hourl7 rates approved each 7ear b~ the
Council and within amounts appropriated durin~ the then current fiscal year.
SECTION II. Article 3 of Chapter 2 is amended by adding new sections to be
kno~ as Section 2-42 and 2-43 to read as follows:
Section 2-42. Appointment and Supervision
The Council shall appoint the To~ Attorney who shall serve at the
pleasure of the Council~ under the supervision of the Council and the
Manager.
Section 2-43. Duties
The Town Attorney shall advise the Council~ the Manager~ Department
Directors~ and all Boards and Commissions of the Town on legal matters
and perform such other duties as may be provided by the Council .or the
Manager.
SECTION III. All prior ordinances and resolutions in conflict herewith are
repealed.

SECTION IV. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage.
