HomeMy Public PortalAbout1985_08_14_O017 Tom o/Leesbuzg {~ V{rg{={= PRESENTED Ausust 14, 1985 ORDIN~ NO. 85-0-17 ~O~D Au~us% 14, 1985 O~IN~: ~ING ~CTION 12.1-17 OF T~ PERSO~L ~ TO ~OW MINI~ 0~ OF T~ ~l~ PAY ~ FOR A Glen W~EREAS, the current personnel policy does not allow an individual to earn more ~han the maximum rate in that person's assigned pay grade; and WHEREAS, occasionally employees may receive outstanding performance evalua- tions which recommend that their salaries exceed the maximum rate in. a given pay grade, and WHEREAS, a policy which allows employeesto exceed their established pay range under certain circumstances is considered to be in the best interest of the town: THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. Section 12.1-17 Paragraph (b)(1) of the Personnel Manual is amended to read as follows: i Section 12.1-17.. Pay Determination (b) In~rade Service Increments. Classified service employees appointed after the adoption of these rules or employees who have not completed twelve months of town service shall be eligible for service increments upon completion of six months and twelve months of acceptable service from the date of their appointment. Service increments shall be within the amoun~ fixed for the appli- cable employees heX: step within the employee's class. After twelve months of service, career employees shall be eligible for service increments on July 1 of each year. Notwithstanding theabove, in no instance shall eligibility for ser- vice increments occur at less than three month intervals. (1) No service increment shall be granted above the maximum rate prescribed for the pay ~m~V grade by the compensation plan, with the exception o__f ~ justified and apprpved merit increase ~hat would put a__n individual above the maximum~ provided this increase is included in the approved budget, and does hoc exceed 5%. -- This ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage.
