It is expected that one more weekend of work may fmish the work on the roof of the dugouts. Mellen, John, Shaffer and Petersen think they can find time this weekend. Shaffer still needs to return some unused lumber to Menards. Kahler Collision and PB Body shop offered and completed work to paint the 56 brackets that were painted prior to construction of the wood benches. The brackets are painted white and look very nice. An incomplete list of volunteers was in the last newsletter, and will need to be updated. Kevin Mellen reported that mulch will be placed at the front and base of the east sign along with plantings next spring. Mellen also hopes to continue his mulching effort at the Potter Street Park. He is doing this as he fmds time. The mud has been removed from the new recreation trail. The trail is 8 foot wide and 6"deep. Shaffer has already heard positive remarks. Tiffin Parks and Recreation Commission 11/19/2003 Page 2 Members desired some way of improving communication of ongoing project work to the Public Works Department. Someway that work information planned by parks could be passed to Mehmen and Detert, and also someway that the Parks Commission could learn about work projects that Public Works is undertaking that could affect planning efforts under study by Parks and Recreation Board. Shaffer, Petersen and Dils all serving on both boards can help coordinate information relay. Shaffer recommended not trying to move sod in any of the parks. He suggest seeding to start grass in needed locations. Moving sod is just too labor intensive. Peteresen reported that the waste street material loaded into Potter Street Park has not been rolled out,the man who promised to do this has not come. This man has volunteered to do it in the spring. Danny Johns felt that community members desire to know more about activities in the city. He suggested that extra cost for publications would be valuable. Reihman said publication costs are serious in amount when the entire general budget for everything wanted is slightly more than$128,000. It was suggested that perhaps more information on the web site and more information in the month newsletter would be equally informative and entail far less expense to accomplish. Shaffer requested that citizens be once again reminded of the web site address, and that the web site be more regularly updated. Karin Dils is volunteering time to update the web site. Shaffer will plan spring bulbs and plantings for summer bloom at signs. Shaffer and Dils hope to open the new Hwy6 park entrance driveway sometime soon. Petersen suggested that the brush be cut down on a greater circumference at the west Entrance Sign for a smoother look around it. Suggested that Mellen call Quality Care for this brush removal work and mowing of weeds very soon if this can be done for around $100 or less. Members expressed thanks to Shaffer for refreshments.
