Tiffin Planning and Zoning Commission November 3, 2004
A regular meeting of the Tiffin Planning and Zoning Commission was brought to order
by Chair Steve Berner, 6:30 p.m. at the Tiffin Fire Station. Members present: Steve
Berner, Ruth DeMuth, Melvin Reeve, Stephanie Surine. Absent: Terry Richardson.
Also present: Mayor Glenn R. Potter, Council Karin Dils, Jim Bartels and Mark
Petersen.
Motion Surine, second DeMuth to approve the printed agenda and minutes. Ayes:
Reeve, Berner, Surine and DeMuth. Absent: Richardson. Motion carried.
Mr. and Mrs.John Connor and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kee were present to voice concerns
about the proposed Schneider Subdivision. Question about the new road proposed for
Schneider Subdivision, if it would include curb and gutter: The location of future
extension of the new road was a question. Does the plat include easement along Jasper
Avenue. What are the number of proposed lots in the subdivision. Need for covenants
included in the subdivison. Where is the necessary park area. No agreement has been
made between any of the private property owners of the area yet. Concern about future
water development and fire hydrant needs of the future.
Mr. Connor explained that his street requirements and costs had been included in his
original cost of property, he didn't see any reason to pay for these costs again. Mr. Kee
explained that he wanted to know if septics would run to his property and how many
septics were being planned for'the area.
Motion Berner, second Reeve to request additional information from the developer,
including number of lots for the subdivision and including future proposed use of the
remaining area. Ayes: DeMuth, Surine, Reeve and Berner. Absent: Richardson.
Motion carried.
Motion Reeve, second Berner to recommend that the City participate in the Cedar Rapids
study for Corridor Rail Service for the Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Amana area. Ayes:
Reeve, Berner, DeMuth, Surine. Absent: Richardson. Motion carried.
Motion Surine, second Reeve to recommend that the City_Council approve a request from
George and Marion Klein for annexation of 30 acres more or less of agricultural zoned
property. Ayes: Surine, DeMuth, Berner, Reeve. Absent: Richardson. Motion carried.
Motion Surine, second Reeve to adjourn. Motion carried. 7:25 p.m.
