BLOCK 202, LOTS 9, 10 & 11
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret ("Borough")
have determined that there is a need for more affordable senior citizen housing in
the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has further determined that the development of
affordable senior housing is in the public interest and promotes the general
welfare of the Borough's residents; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has determined Block 202, Lots 9, 10 & 11 is needed
as an appropriate location to develop such housing; and
WHEREAS, the Borough desires to obtain said real property and any
improvements thereon for the development of affordable senior housing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey a~ follows:
1. That the appropriate Borough officials including the Borough
Attorney be and are hereby authorized and directed to take all necessary
action to initiate acquisition of title of Block 202, Lots 9, 10 & 11 through
negotiations with the property owner; and are hereby further authorized
and directed to effectuate the acquisition of title to said real property
through the exercise of the Borough's powers of eminent domain should
that be necessary.
2. That a copy of this Ordinance be forwarded to the Borough
Attorney and the Borough's Purchasing Department.
3. That a copy of this Ordinance be kept on file in the Borough
Clerk's office.
