Council Discussion of Linden Hill Access Postponed
Leesburg staff evaluating new options for the design of
the South King Street & Linden Hill Way intersection
Leesburg, VA (June 18, 2010) – The Town of Leesburg has postponed Town Council discussion
of proposed changes to vehicular access to and from the Linden Hill community off South King
Street as a result of the South King Street widening project. This discussion was originally
scheduled for the June 21, 2010 Council work session.
In recent weeks, residents of the Linden Hill community have expressed concerns about
proposed changes to the design of the intersection of South King Street and Linden Hill Way.
The initial design concept converted access at the intersection to “right in, right out” only,
meaning that vehicles traveling north on South King Street would not be able to turn left onto
Linden Hill Way and that vehicles exiting the neighborhood would have to turn right and then
make a U-turn at Greenway Drive in order to go north on King Street.
“We are exploring a number of new alternatives to the original design as solutions to the
residents’ concerns,” explained Kaj Dentler, Acting Director of Capital Projects. “We need
additional time to fully evaluate these potential scenarios before reporting back to the Town
Council.”
Dentler anticipates presenting the item to the Town Council for further discussion in July 2010.
