AMENDING SECTION 2-24 OF THE TOWN CODE REGARDING STANDING
COMMITTEES
WHEREAS, this Council desires to reestablish its committee system to
better allocate the work of the Council between the two committees; and
WHEREAS, Council desires to change the times and dates for committee
meetings to more effectively use the time of the Council and staff while at
the same time ensuring that committee meetings remain convenient for public
attendance:
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
SECTION I. Section 2-24 of the Town Code, "Standing Committees," is
amended to read as follows:

The Plannin~ and Zoning Committee and the Administration and
Public Works Committee are hereby established as standin~ commit-
tees of the Council:
(a)
The Planning and Zoning Committee shall have jurisdiction
over land use proposals for rezonin~s, special exceptions
and planned developments.
(b) The Administration and Public Works Committee shall have
jurisdiction over all other remaining items requiring
Council action.
Each committee shall consist of two members and a chair-
man. Members of each committee shall be appointed by the
Council biennually. Each committees shall select its own
chairman.
The Planning and Zoning Committee shall meet at 4:30 P.M.
on the Wednesday of the week preceding each regular Council
meeting in the Council Chambers or other place as agreed. The
Administration and Public Works Committee shall meet at 7:30
P.M. on the Wednesday of the week preceding each regular
Council meeting in the Council Chambers or other place as
agreed. At committee meetings, the members shall review
upcoming meeting agenda items, hear staff reports and take
other nonlegislative action as it deems appropriate.
SECTION II. Ail prior ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage.
