Terry Frye, Assistant Director of Finance for Operations, has worked for the Town of Leesburg for over 36 years. He started with the Town of Leesburg in October 1973 as a parking meter maintenance technician in the Public Works Department. In 1985, Terry moved to the Finance Department and was promoted to Finance Technician. In 1988, his title was changed to Utility Billing Technician. In 1999, his position was reclassified as Finance Technician II. In 2005, he was promoted to General Services Supervisor. In February 2009, he was promoted to Finance Operations Manager and in May 2010, to Assistant Director of Finance for Operations. Amy Wyks, formerly a Senior Engineer with the Town’s Utilities Department, will be replacing Terry as Assistant Director of Finance for Operations. William “B.J.” Grimes will be retiring after 33 years of service with the Town. B.J. was hired 1975 as a Maintenance Worker in Public Works. He left the Town briefly, returning in January 1977 to the same position. In June 1982, B.J. transferred to the Utilities Department as an Operator’s Assistant at the Water Treatment Plant. In July 1988, he was promoted to Operator IV/Maintenance Worker, a position he has held since then. B.J. is best known by Town employees and residents for his striking resemblance to Santa Claus and his assistance with the Town’s annual holiday festivities. TOL PR 2010-06-21 Retirements Page 2 Harry Grimm was hired as concrete finisher in the Town’s Public Works Maintenance Division in July 1983, a position he held until April 1986 when he resigned from the Town. He returned to Leesburg as an Operator IV at the Water Pollution Control Facility in 1992. Harry was promoted to Operator III in July 1994 and to Senior Utility Plant Operator in July 1998. A graduate of California University in Pennsylvania, Harry will be retiring from the Town with nearly 21 years of service. Following his retirement, Harry plans to return to his hometown in Pennsylvania. William (Bill) Ference started with the Town of Leesburg in January 2002 as the Parks Manager. In July 2004, his position was reclassified as the Assistant Director for Parks. Prior to coming to the Town of Leesburg, Bill worked for the Fairfax County Park Authority and the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development. Bill is a graduate of Penn State University, with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture. Following his retirement, Bill’s position with the Department of Parks & Recreation will be eliminated. Kate Trask, currently the Assistant Director for Recreation, will become the Deputy Director of the department. # # #
