HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-17-2008THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 17, 2008 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, July 17, 2008, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson, Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kim Vessels and Captain Terry Hopkins. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the July 10, 2008 meeting. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment in the amount of $169,987.15. She explained of that total $32,148.71 was paid to Milestone Contracting for Hot /Cold Mix, $10,330.65 was paid to Harvest Land for Premium Road Diesel, Bowlin Construction was paid $29,466.15 for curbs and sidewalks on Peacock Road and $18,5147.08 was paid to Pro Lawn Care for curbs and sidewalks on North "E" Street. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. STREET CLOSURES A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins for the approval of the street closure of NW "J" Street from Ridge Street East to alley on Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM for "Fund Day" by Cornerstone Christian Fellowship located at 1107 Ridge Street. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins for the approval of the street closure of Crowe Road to through traffic on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 starting at 12:00 Noon to 9:30 PM for the return of the Model T's to the Board of Works Minutes July 17, 2008 Page 2 of 2 Fairgrounds from Hagerstown Airport. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. SIGNAGE A. Captain Terry Hopkins made a request to the board for the approval to temporarily install STOP signs for north and south bound traffic on Salisbury Road for the week Of July 181h through the 27th. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Captain Terry Hopkins made a request to the board for the approval to temporarily install PEDESTRIAN CROSSING signs along Salisbury Road at the southern gate, south of the Crowe Road entrance for the week of July 18th through the 27th. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second to approve. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Robinson made a request to the board to approve Contract No. 94 -2008 with Elite Clean for Janitorial Services for the City. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
