AN ORDINANCE:
APPROVING AN AMEND1V[ENT TO THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE
SECTION 10A-14 (5) REGARDING SIGNS FOR GASOLINE STATIONS
WHEREAS, on Jammry 22, 1991 the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virghda during a
Joint Public Hearing with the Planning Conunission approved an amendment to the Leesburg Zoning
Ordinance Section 10A-14 (5) regarding signs for gasoline stations; and
WHEREAS, the proposed revisions are narrow in scope and applicable to only gasoline stations;
and
WHEREAS, these amendments will promote greater visibility for gasolh~e stations without an
appreciable impact on the existing sign regulations:
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesbm'g in Virgi,fia as follows:
SECTION I. An amendment to Section 10A-14(5) of the Leesburg ZoTdng Ordhmnce is hereby
approved which will delete the curreut text in its entirety and replace as shown below:

Signs for Gasoline Stations. Automobile gasoline stations may erect signs as
follows:
Maximum Number ,)f Signs. Three.
.Types of Sip~s PermiLted. Wall grmmd mounted (Monument
Style), awning, canopy or marquee.
ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT REGARDING SIGNS FOR GASOLINE STATIONS
c_. Maximum Size of Signs:
1_ Wall and Marquee. Same as individual businesses
(Section l 0A-14(2).
Ground mounted (Monument Style). Same as for
individ~ml businesses (Section 10A-14(2), but may
include within the allowable square footage a provision
for changeable fuel price sign. The location of the
groined mounted (Monument Style) sign must be
demonstrated as not interfering with entrance sight
distances.
Canopy or Awning. One square foot per linear foot of
the canopy or awning, with signage comprising a single
reference to the name of the gasoline station and/or
identification lo_go~ up to a m~,ximum of fifty square feet
~. s. ide of canopy.
Gas Pump Signs. Each gas uumo shall be permitted a
total of two square foot of sign area to identify the
product dispensed.
