PLANNING & ZONING COMMIISSION
WEDNESDAY June 4, 2008
Tiffin Fire.Department Meeting Room
Steve Berner, Chairperson, called meeting to order at 6:38pm.
Roll Call of members present Steve Berner, Shawna Colvin, Melvin Reeve.
Absent Jim Schmidt, Stephanie Surine. -
Also present: Mayor Royce Phillips, Council persons Mark Petersen and Jim
Bartels, and Building Inspector Ed Johnson.
Motion Reeve seconded Colvin to approve Agenda.
Motion Colvin seconded Berner to approve minutes of May 7, 2008 meeting.
Commission member requested Review and discussion of Villages Covenant
and Design Standards table to future meeting as no representation for Villages
present.'
Commission members continued work on updating Future Land Use Plan.
Members planned for future zoning districts.
Amiee Pitlick, Busy Bee Day Care outlined plans for placing temporary
classrooms received from Clear Creek Amana School District on its commercial
property. Property purchased to the east of Day Care currently zoned`
Residential, planned to be used as private.playground area. Questions were
raised concerning fencing around playground.° Planned fencing appeared to
conform to zoning and design standard requirements. It appears that re-zoning
is not required for current planned use. Commission members advised that if
classrooms would need to be placed on residential land, re-zoning to
Commercial would be necessary. Members recommended that Residential land
be re-zoned in future to Commercial.
Commission members resumed work on Future Land Use Map. Motion Colvin
seconded Reeve to recommend Land Use Map be forwarded to City Council for
'review.before forwarding map to City Engineer's Office for updates and to be
presented at next Planning and Zoning meeting.
Motion Colvin seconded Reeve for adjournment at 8:18pm.
