Steve Berner, P &Z Chairperson called meeting to order at 6:30pm.
Member`present: Steve Berner, Shawna Colvin, Melvin Reeve, Stephanie Surine. Absent Jim ..
Schmidt.
Also present: Mayor Royce Phillips, Jim Bartels, Mark Petersen.
Motion Surine seconded by Colvin to approve Agenda as printed. All actions approved by all
unless so noted.
Motion Colvin seconded by Reeve to approve minutes of June 4, 2008 meeting as printed.
New Business:
Commission members voiced concern of unsightly construction dump site on Redbird Run on
lot owned by,Mike Gericke. Member Reeve reported that on undeveloped building sites, DNR
requires a central dump site. Motion Colvin, seconded by Berner to recommend to City
Council to contact Mr Gericke to clean up dump site on Redbird Run.
Member Surine voiced displeasure of the unsightly temporary signage placed by Rev Hahn at
Soccer Fields for his Special Event. Mayor Phillips assured the Commission that he would
address these concerns to the City Council and request a change to the Special Events
application regarding temporary signage:
Old Business:
Commission members continued review and progress on updating Future Land Use Map
review. Engineer's Office provided maps for review showing future planned zoning.
Members requested larger map showing recommended planned zoning to fine tune more
specific zoning within districts for August 6,2008 meeting. Member Surine inquired on
updating text to accompany updated map. Eastern Iowa Council of Governments has offered
to assist in updating text for this purpose. Motion Reeve seconded by Surine to recommend
City Council to review future planned map.
Motion Colvin seconded by Surine for adjournment at 6:55pm.
