HomeMy Public PortalAbout2018-077 Resolution Supporting Application for Henn Cty Natural Resouces GrantMember Anderson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION 2018-77 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING APPLICATION FOR HENNEPIN COUNTY NATURAL RESOURCES OPPORTUNITY GRANT WHEREAS, the city of Medina (the "City") is a municipal corporation, organized and existing under the laws of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County (the "County") provides funding assistance through the Natural Resources Opportunity Grant program to help partners take advantage of opportunities to implement projects that improve water quality; and WHEREAS, the City has identified an opportunity to construct stormwater improvements to improve water quality and reduce nutrients and sediment from running into Elm Creek in connection with certain street improvements being considered for Hickory Drive north of Hamel Road (the "Project"); and WHEREAS, the Project is estimated to reduce nutrient loading by 26 lbs/year and to reduce sediment draining to Elm Creek from an existing gully; and WHEREAS, the City has included funds within its 2019 Capital Improvement Plan to cover project costs beyond the grant funding received. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Medina, Minnesota that the City requests Hennepin County Natural Resources Opportunity Grant funding for the Project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City staff is hereby authorized and directed to take necessary actions to apply for such funding. Dated: November 7, 2018.
