Leesburg Independence Day Parade Winners Announced
Leesburg, VA (July 7, 2010) – The Town of Leesburg held its 20th annual Independence Day
Parade on Sunday, July 4, 2010. Spectators of all ages lined King Street through Historic
Downtown Leesburg to see patriotic floats, animals, classic cars and more.
First time competitors, the Packard family
of Lovettsville, Virginia took home the 3rd
annual Patriot Cup. The Patriot Cup
competition, sponsored by Leesburg Today,
is awarded each year to the top patriotic
float. The winner’s name will be engraved
on the Patriot Cup, which is on display at
the Leesburg Town Hall.
In addition, the parade award committee
chose the best entries in several categories.
The winners of each category are invited to
join the Mayor and Town Council at 7:30pm
on Tuesday, July 13 at Town Hall to receive their awards. The 2010 parade winners are:
Best Walking Group Patriotic Peddlers
Best Interpretation of Theme (Under 15) Temple Hall Farm
Best Interpretation of Theme (Over 15) VFW Post 1177
Most Creative (Under 15) Cub Scout Pack 572
Most Creative (Over 15) Loudoun County Master Gardeners
The evening concert and fireworks at Ida Lee Park drew an estimated 23,000 people in
attendance. With a variety of food vendors on hand, live entertainment and the largest
fireworks show in Northern Virginia, the event drew visitors from Pennsylvania, West Virginia,
and Maryland as well as locals to enjoy the celebration.
