GEM COMMUNITY SUPPORT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of Iona is interested in the economic health of the
community and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to support the efforts within and by this community
to become more prepared to support and foster the appropriate economic activities of its
citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the Idaho Department of Commerce is offering a program specifically
designed to help communities help themselves prepare for and sustain an effective economic
development program; and,
WHEREAS, this program is entitled GEM COMMUNITIES Program.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Iona hereby supports and
endorses the participation of Iona in the GEM COMMUNITIES Program of Idaho Department of
Commerce; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the elected leadership of this community realizes this
program requires dedicated effort; and that this resolution is a pledge of our honest intention to
complete the requirements for GEM COMMUNITY certification; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the IONA COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM (ICAT) is the
economic development organization authorized to perform the tasks necessary for certification
as a GEM COMMUNITY, the implementation of any related grant programs, and sustaining the
ongoing local community and economic development efforts, and, further, that said
organization will follow the guidelines established by the Idaho Department of Commerce in
performing the tasks necessary for maintaining certification as a GEM COMMUNITY, and that
said organization shall report to the City Council not less than quarterly regarding its progress.
This Resolution is in full effect upon its adoption this 22nd day of August, 2001.
