April 11, 1975 Jasper Ridge Preserve
Portola Valley, CA
I . ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order by President K. Duffy at about
10 :00 A.M.
Members Present: Katherine Duffy, Barbara Green, Nonette Hanko,
Edward Shelley and Daniel Wendin.
Personnel Present: J. Olson.
Audience of five persons.
SUMMARY
The Board of Directors participated in a tour guided by Alan
Grundmann, Director of the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve.
Directors were shown the complex of ecological systems that
comprise this foothill area. Of particular interest was the
interrelationship of these ecological units to the serpentine
soils of Jasper Ridge. There was considerable discussion as to
the change in vegetation dynamics on Jasper Ridge since the
settlement of the Spanish many years ago. It was noted that
Jasper Ridge is a unique biological preserve due to the wide
divergence of soils, topography and vegetation types existing
on the Preserve.
