HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2010-07-09 Village ribbon cutting Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Contact: Debi Parry Business Retention Coordinator dparry@leesburgva.gov 703-737-7023 Ribbon Cutting for Village at Leesburg Scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2010 Leesburg, VA (July 9, 2010) - At 5:30 pm on Saturday, July 17, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting for the Village at Leesburg, located at the intersection of Route 7 and Crosstrail Boulevard. Developed by a Cypress Equities company and McLean, VA-based Kettler, the Village at Leesburg is a vertically-integrated, four-story, town center-style, mixed-use development. Upon final build out, the project will feature approximately 520,000 square feet of retail space, combined with 150,000 square feet of office product, and 335 luxury multi- family residences. Anchored by Wegmans Food Market, which opened in November 2009, the Village at Leesburg has seen a steady stream of store openings over the past several months. The ribbon cutting on July 17, 2010 will celebrate the opening of a number of new stores and restaurants, as well as the completion of the residential and office portions of the project. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the festivities will continue until 9:00 p.m. with a Summer Block Party featuring musical guests emmet swimming and American Idol finalist Elliot Yamin. Fifteen of the project’s 22 retail stores will be open, with many offering special discounts and outdoor tables offering prizes and activities throughout the evening. Additional free family entertainment will include balloon sculpting, airbrush art, face painting and caricatures. TOL PR 2010-07-09 Village ribbon cutting Page 2 Adding to the fun, Wegmans will have an “American Classics” booth with such offerings as malts, shakes, hot dogs and hamburgers, while Faang Thai Restaurant and Bar will serve crabmeat fried rice, char-grilled chicken and fried chicken. Adults 21 and over also can quench their thirst at the event’s beer garden. Proceeds from the evening’s food and beverage sales will benefit Loudoun Habitat for Humanity. “The Summer Block Party will be a great Saturday night out, where the whole family can enjoy music, food and fun, while getting to meet our merchants and supporting Loudoun Habitat for Humanity – a wonderful and worthwhile organization right in our own community,” said John Fainter, vice president of development for the project.
