A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TEMPLE CITY PROCLAIMING MARGE CALfMIA DAY
IN HONOR OF HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO
CIVIC BETTERMENT IN TEMPLE CITY.
WHEREAS, it is only through the great dedication of a few
persons by and through which a city becomes a place of warmth
and friendliness, and
WHEREAS, Temple City has been graced with having and knowing
such dedication to the great benefit of all in the person of
Marge Calamia, and
WHEREAS, Marge Calamia has served the people of the City of
Temple City as Secretary to the Camellia Festival for four years,
and
WHEREAS, Marge Calamia worked with tireless energy with the
Junior Women's Club from 1953 to 13359 and with the Senior Women's
Club from 1959 to the present, and
WHEREAS, Marge Calamia has worked in the Temple City County
Fair booth for four years, which booth received the accolade of
the public and the Los Angeles Fair each year, and
WHERE ^.S, Marge Calamia has worked to the success of Santa's
Work Shop with Peppy Jackson in 1956 and again in 1963, and
WHEREAS, Marge Calamia was greatly responsible for the 1st
Anniversary Party of the City cf Temple City, and
WHEREAS, Marge Calamia has served faithfully as a member of
the Coordinating Council for a period of four years, as an officer
and chairman, and
WHEREAS, Marge Calamia has been an integral part of the
success of the Indoor Sports Club for over ten years, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to pay high homage to one
of its most wonderful citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby declare February 6,
1964, as Marge Calamia Day and does bestow upon Marge Calamia all
of the laurels and honors which are within the human heart to
bestow upon one who has given so much to the service of all of
the people of Temple City and in particular to its youth.
SECTION 2. The City Council does hereby urge that the City
rejoice in its blessing in having such a fine and tender heart
for one of its own and that each citizen find in her the desire
to continue her great work by their own acts and deeds.
