I. Call to order— 7:00 p.m.
A. Commissioners present —Galen Bruer (Chair), Randy Hughes (Vice
Chair) Brad Kvanbek (Secretary), Gerry Dykhoff, Tom Gregor, Theresa
Richey and Ray Essendrup.
B. Also present — Carolyn Smith and Jim Dillman
II. Additions to agenda. — None
III. Approval of last meeting's minutes. — Approved
IV. Business.
A. Updates.
1. Morningside — None.
2. Independence Beach — None.
3. Maple — None.
4. Holy name — None.
5. Hunter —None.
6. Legion Park — None.
B. Hamel Legion Park tree planting plan — Connie Fortin of Fortin
Consulting (environmental consultant) prepared recommendations, tree list
and application map. She would do more at $50.00 per hour, but we have
our own expert, Tom Gregor. We will review and discuss more on park tour.
C. Proposed Hamel Rodeo donation - $5000.00 may be used for kiosk or
gazebo. Jerry found someone to draw plans.
D. Comprehensive review of trail plans — There was an April 11t" involving
Council Members Carolyn Smith and Tom Supel; Park Commission Chair
Galen Bruer and police Chief Ed Belland.
1. We discussed what the park commission's role would be including
available funds, how to prioritize. What trails cost? Dividing the research
on the trails by location. Coordination with other projects.

2. We decided to appear at the May 7th city council meeting to discuss
the park commission's role. As many park commissioners as possible will
make the meeting.
3. A motion was made and was passed as follows — Does the Medina
City Council want the Park commission to be proactive or reactive, as the
commission has been, concerning trail planning prioritizing and cost
evaluation?
V. Adjourn — 9:00 p.m. Next meeting, May 15th, 2002. Discussed a bus
for the park tour and inviting council members.
