AN ORDINANCE:
AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE
REGULATIONS TO ESTABLISH
ANNEXED PROPERTY
PRESENTED July 11; 2000

ARTICLE 2 GENERAL
AUTOMATIC ZONING FOR
WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of Council to fulfill the goals and policies of the 1997
Town Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance does not currently address the zoning of property
annexed into the Town; and
WHEREAS, amending the general regulations will allow property annexed into the Town
to be automatically zoned as Town R-E Residential Estate Zoning District unless and until the
property is rezoned to a more appropriate zoning district in accordance with the Urban Growth Area
policies of the 1997 Town Plan and the procedures of Article 13 of the Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed amendments.
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The Leesburg Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended as follows:
Section 2A-g_ ZONING I/PON ANNF, XATION
Whenever property shall he added to the Town by adfimtment of Town boundaries: such
property automatically shall he zoned R-F. Residential F. state without any fl~rther action.
This zoning designation shM1 he effective upon the date the boundary adjustment shall
have heen finally approved hy a court of competent jurisdiction. Subsequent reznning of
the property may he made in accordance with the provisions of Article 13 Amendments_
SECTION Il. All prior ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

AMENDMENTS TO THE TOWN OF I.EESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE REGARDING
AUTOMATIC ZONING FOR ANNEXED PROPERTY
SECTION III. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance is declared invalid by a court of
competent jurisdiction, the decision shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any
remaining provisions of the zoning ordinance.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage.
