COl J.EGE OR UNIVERSITY IN THE I-1 DISTRICT
WHEREAS, it is the desire and intent of Council to provide educational diversity and
opportunities in the Town of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance does not currently permit a college or university as
either a by-right or special exception use in the I-1 District; and
WHEREAS, the I-1 District is suited for college or university uses based on the nature of
other uses permitted in the district and the policies of the 1997 Town Plan; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed amendments.
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The Leesburg Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended as follows:
Section 4E - I-1 Industrial Research Park Zoning District
Section 4F.-2_ PERMITTED IISF. S

SECTION II. All prior ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance is declared invalid by a court
of competent jurisdiction, the decision shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or
any remmning provisions of the zoning ordinance.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage.
