A RESOLUTION: APPROVAL OF 2020 AR TSP ARKS SCULPTURES AT RAFLO PARK
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council supports the Commission on Public Art,
established in 2006 (COPA Article XII Section 2-100 of the Lees~urg Town Code); and
WHEREAS, the work of the Commission on Public Art encourages and supports art to
enhance Leesburg's identity while demonstrating the value of art and creativity within the
community; and \/"'
WHEREAS, a sculpture park was created in Raflo Park in 2016 as a public/private
partnership; and
WHEREAS, the most recent two-year installation will end in June 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Commission on Public Art issued a call for artists to provide sculpture art
for the next two-year ArtsP ARKs installment at Raflo Park; and
WHEREAS, an appointed art advisory panel chose five sculptures for display; and
WHEREAS, the Commission on Public Art agrees with the panel's recommendations; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council must endorse all art displayed on public property.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
endorses sculptures entitled Kintsugi Heart by Kim, Circle with Birds & Flowers by Sally Myers,
Sun Flower by Alyssa Imes, Heart by M.L. Duffy, and Welcome, the Iconic Hand by Brian Kirk for
display at Raflo Park from July 2020 through June 2022.
