AN ORDINANCE:
AMENDING SECTIONS 15-12 AND 15-14 OF THE TOWN CODE
RELATING TO SEWER CONNECTION AND AVAILABILITY
FEES FOR ANNEXED PROPERTIES WITH FAILING SEPTIC
SYSTEMS
WHEREAS, the Town desires to reduce sewer connection and availability fees to those in
effect in 1984 where the lot was created and a single-family detached dwelling existed thereon prior to
the property being brought into the town by the 1984 annexation and the septic system is failing.
THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I.
Section 15-12 (1) of the Town Code is amended to read as follows:
(1) The fee for a four-inch connection or private residential force main within the town where
the town provides all materials, equipment and labor for installation of a sewer connection shall
be $1,356.00; provided, however, that such fee shall be reduced to $700.00 where the lot was
created and a single-family detached dwelling was existing thereon prior to the 1984
annexation and failure of the septic system is imminent, as determined by the Town Manager in
consultation with the Virginia Department of Health.
SECTION II.
Section 15-14 of the Town Code is amended by adding a new subsection (g) to read as
follows:
(g)
Sewer service availability fees for residential uses shall be reduced to $1,750.00 per unit
where the lot was created and a single-family detached dwelling was existing thereon prior
to the 1984 annexation and failure of the septic system is imminent, as determined by the
Town Manager in consultation with the Virginia Department of Health.
And former subsections (g) (h) and (i) are renumbered accordingly.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall be effective immediately.
