HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2010-08-05 YMCA 10K-20K Race Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Contact: Rachael Goodwin Special Events Supervisor rgoodwin@leesburgva.gov 703-737-7156 10K/20K Race to Benefit Loudoun County YMCA to be Held in Leesburg on Sunday, August 8, 2010 Road closures may cause traffic delays between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m. Leesburg, VA (August 5, 2010) - The annual Leesburg 10K/20K to benefit the Loudoun County YMCA will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2010. This event draws hundreds of area runners to Leesburg in support of the YMCA. The race route begins on Harrison Street in front of Market Station and proceeds south to Catoctin Circle. Runners will go west on Catoctin Circle to Dry Mill Road, where they will turn south and into Loudoun County. The return will bring runners back north on Dry Mill Road to the W&OD Trail by Loudoun County High School and then back to Market Station. Rolling street closures will be in effect along the race route and barricades will be in place at intersections along Catoctin Circle to prevent vehicles from entering the race path. Motorists should expect periodic road closures between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Harrison Street, Catoctin Circle, South King Street and Dry Mill Road. Dry Mill Road will be closed to traffic from Catoctin Circle to Lee Avenue for the duration of the race. Residents and businesses in the surrounding area should be aware of reduced accessibility to these streets.
