The work to be done under Contract #21758 consists of the construction of approximately 5,928 lineal feet of sanitary sewers varying in size from 15-inches to 30-inches in diameter and appurtenances. The purpose of this project is to reduce inflow/infiltration (I/I) in the University City watershed, reduce building backups, and relieve overcharged sanitary sewers. This project will provide for the elimination of one (1) constructed SSO (BP-421) during construction of the project. This project will facilitate future elimination of one (1) wet weather pump station (P-790) and four (4) constructed SSOs (BP-416, BP-417, BP-433 & BP-476) after construction of the Lindley Drive Sanitary Relief (I-170 to Ashmont Dr) (UR-07) (12329) project. This project is scheduled to be completed in February 2021. FUNDING/COST SUMMARY: Budgeted: Capital Improvement Program Budget Year: FY2019 Amount: $4,000,000 FY2020, Pg. 69 $5,100,000 $9,100,000 Fund Name: #6660 – Sanitary Replacement Fund Additional Comments: This supplemental appropriation is necessary due to the additional depth of the redesigned sewer, which led to tunneling in rock and mixed soil conditions and additional utility investigation. The additional funds allow for the change in tunneling equipment necessary for the changed conditions and additional costs to excavate the tunnel shafts. Additional funds will also allow for utility locating after previously unidentified gas and fiber optic services were not marked by Missouri One Call but found by the Contractor. Staff is requesting introduction and adoption at the February 11, 2021 Board Meeting to be able to complete the tunneling and restore Olive Boulevard. This supplemental request will bring the total appropriation for this project to $10,650,000.00. The repair is approximately 30 feet deep. The existing VCP pipes collapsed due to soil erosion and deterioration of the pipe, which led to a sink hole on Idaho Avenue. District staff declared this project an emergency on February 5, 2021. The contractor, Unnerstall Contracting Co., has been selected per MSD Emergency Declaration Policy. The repair has started and is expected to be complete before February 20, 2021.
