AN ORDINANCE: AMENDING AND REORDAINING CHAPTER 1 (GENERAL
PROVISIONS) OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF LEESBURG,
VIRGINIA, 1976, AS AMENDED BY ADDING A NEW SECTION
1-18 (TOWN SEAL AND LOGO)
THE TOWN COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Chapter 1 (GENERAL PROVISIONS) be and the same hereby is
amended and reordained by adding a new Section 1-18 (TOWN SEAL AND LOGO).
to read as follows:
Sec. 1-18. Town Seal and Town Logo
(a) The corporate seal of the Town shall be circular in form and the design shall
consist of a representation of Town Hall with the words "Established 1758" below and the
words "Town of Leesburg, Virginia" on the circumference.
(b) The Town Logo shall consist of the word "Leesburg" in stylized script with a star
imprinted above and behind the word "Leesburg".
(c) Certain uses of Town seal and Town logo prohibited.

AN ORDINANCE: AMENDING AND REORDAINING CHAPTER 1 (GENERAL
PROVISIONS) OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF LEESBURG,
VIRGINIA, 1976, AS AMENDED BY ADDING A NEW SECTION
1-18 (TOWN SEAL AND LOGO)
(1) It shall be unlawful for any person or other organization to use the Town seal
and Town logo, or the design thereof or any imitation, reproduction or replication thereof,
except for the usual and customary official purposes, including noncommercial
decoration and display; and no person or other organization shall print, impress or stamp
thereon any word, legend or device other than those described in this subsection.
However, the Town Manager shall have the authority to grant permission for the use of
the design in such ways as the Town Manager shall consider in conformance with the
Town Council policies on the use of the logo. An annual fee of$250.00 shall be charged
for use of the Town logo.
(2) Any person who shall use the Town seal and Town logo or the design thereof
for advertising purposes or who shall print or emblazon thereon any word, legend or
device, not duly authorized as stated in subsection (a) of this section, shall, upon
conviction, be fined the sum of$100.00 for each and every offense. Each Town seal and
Town logo, or design thereof so used or so printed or stamped shall constitute a separate
offense under this section.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall become effective upon the date and at the time of its
final passage.
SECTION III. If any provision of this ordinance is declared invalid, the decision shall not
affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any remaining provisions of the ordinance.
