Power and Light Company had ever formally accepted the system and he
sai,t +.rAt when they energized it that constituted acceptance. Mr..
Simons asked if after the ye�!.rls agreement for s,rvioe ended if they
could refuse to renew the agreement and Mr. Baisden said it was his
pers,nal opinion that the Railroad Commission would make them keep
the service up. Mr. Simons wanted to krr_ *a if the people didn't buy
the utility when they bought the lots. Mr. Webb said no.
Mr. Canfield asked the council if he could explain about a sug.;es
tion made at the last volt.mteer fireman' meeting regarding placing of
ladders or some sort of pole over the seawalls in order to enable pco,,le
to climb up in case of an overturned boat or someone falling in. The
couzreil agreed tnat they approved of the interest the volunteers were
taxing and s;_g;ested they give the matter more thought and really have
a workable elan to present.
The council considered the following plans and approved or rejected
them as follows: Breuil addition, approved; Simkinc addition, approved;
Wilson residence, ap_ roved; Corcoran apartment, approved; Frederick
residence, approved; ilnerald Isle Hotel sign, rejected.
Upon motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Whittaker the meeting
adjourned.

A special meeting of the council ,�f Bal Barbour Village was called
at 7:30 P. M., Wednesday, May 2, 1951.
There were present: Messrs. Beatty, 6imons, Stokely and
Whittaker.

Also present Were Mr. W. H. Webb, Village Manager; Mary Wetterer,
Village Clerk; Fred Baisden, Village Attorney; and councilmen -elect
Broom and Leonard.
In the absence of the mayor, Mr. Graham, Sr., the Assistant
Mayor, Mr. Simons presided at the meeting.
Mr. Webb explained that a sign ordinance had been Prepared and
he tiers read to the council the section from the Ojean Front Deeds
covering signs on hotels. Mr. B .isden said that it was his o)inlon
that this only covered shope in a hotel. Mr. Webb also read sections
from the apartment deeds and -oning ordinance cover +.ng „igns.
Mr. Baisden then read to the council the prot>osed sign ordinance.
After discussion it was agreed by all the councilmen that this ordnance
was necessary and upon motion of Mr. Stokely, seconded by Mr. Beatty,
ordnance No. �4, entitled.
