REQUESTING THAT NEW JERSEY TRANSIT REMOVE ITS BUS STOP
LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF PERSHING AVENUE AND

comer 6f Pershing Avenue and Romanowski Avenue poses a danger to

POLICE DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATIVE SUBMISSION CARTERET NJ
TO: Councilman Joseph Sitarz AppROVED 2/16/04
SUBJECT: N.J. Transit Bus Stop, Romanowski and Pershing Ave.
Councilman Sitarz:
As per our prior conversation please use this letter as a request that the N.J. Transit Bus
Stop located at the corner of Pershing and Romanoski Ave be curtailed. The Carteret Post Office
is located on the corner of Pershing and Romanowski Ave. The area during business hours of the
Post Office is quite often congested with vehicular traffic and pedestrian traffic. The arrival of the
busses in the area only makes the situation worse.
There are currently bus stops located at the intersection of Pershing and Washington Ave and
near the intersection of Pershing Ave and Noe St (Sportsman Bldg). As you know both these bus
stops are quite close to the intersection of Pershing Ave and Romanowski Ave, so there should not
be much of an inconvenience for the people who currently board the bus at the Post Office area to
board the bus at one of the other locations.
N.J. Transit requires a resolution from the Borough of Carteret in order to implement this
change. If you have any questions or comments with regard to this matter please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Respectfully Submitted,
Chief John Pieezyski
