PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS: Michael McNamara progressed through Watertown Cub Scouts Pack 30
to join BSA Troop 30; and,
WHEREAS: As a member of Troop 30, Michael served as Quartermaster, and then as
Senior Patrol Leader; and,
WHEREAS: With Troop 30 Michael led his Patrol, the Baconators, to win the
Northern Lights Klondike Derby in 2019; and in the previous year under his leadership,
the Baconators came in second in the Spirit of Adventure Council Klondike Derby; and,
WHEREAS: The Boy Scouts of America encourages Eagle Scout candidates to
complete worthy projects to improve their neighborhoods and their communities; and,
WHEREAS: Michael's Eagle Scout project included building a secure storage area for
the Watertown Food Pantry, enabling staff to more easily serve federally -funded food
to those in need in our community; and while under strict protocols due to COVID-19
restrictions, Michael gathered materials, Scouts and adult volunteers to complete the
project for his Watertown neighbors; and,
WHEREAS: Michael was awarded the Eagle rank September 24, 2020 supported by
Scoutmaster Chris Derocher; he was celebrated by Troop 30 on November 14, 2020,
and reported to U.S. Marine Corps boot camp shortly thereafter; and,
WHEREAS: Michael McNamara serves as an example to the youth of our community
through his high level of personal achievement, leadership, and community service and
has made the Town of Watertown very proud;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Council, acting on behalf of the
people of Watertown, does hereby recognize and congratulate Michael McNamara for
his outstanding accomplishment, extend its deepest appreciation for all of his
dedicated work, and wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.
