HomeMy Public PortalAbout016-2014 - Grant for FEMA assistance for Fire prevention and SafetyCOMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 16-2014 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTER GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program has grant funding available through its Fiscal Year 2013 Fire Prevention and Safety Activities Grant Program; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Fire Department has submitted or will submit a grant application to obtain funds that will be used for compensation of members attending classes for Inspection UII, books and materials for the classes, two hundred sixty (260) hours of class time instruction (with a total of four (4) classes), nine (9) i-Phones, twenty-four (24) i-Pads, and technical support costs; and WHEREAS, A five percent (5%) local match is required. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond Fire Department has submitted or will submit, as authorized by IC 36-1-4-10, a grant application to the FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program. 2. The City of Richmond Fire Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Two Hundred Thirty-three Thousand Two Hundred Twenty Dollars and Forty-eight Cents ($233,220.48). 3. The local match of Eleven Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-one Dollars and Two Cents ($11,661.02) will be supplied by the 2014 Richmond Fire Department budget. 4. Said grant funding shall be used for compensation of members attending classes for Inspection 1/II, books and materials for the classes, two -hundred sixty (260) hours of class time instruction (with a total of four (4) classes), nine (9) i-Phones, twenty-four (24) i-Pads, and technical support costs.
